Market Bounce Sees $AAVE and $FTM Leading the Pack

$WIF Catches Another Bid, Are Memecoins Back?

Exciting news! We have officially added a daily edition to the Weekly Whale newsletter, and to go along with this we’ll be rebranding to “The Beluga Brief”. This means we’ll be able to deliver data-driven insights to your inbox every day of the week, spending our time in the crypto trenches and combing through thousands of crypto news feeds so you don’t have to.

What happened today?

Americans woke up to a small bounce on Bitcoin today which seems to have dragged the rest of the market up with it, however the two biggest winners of the day have been Aave and Fantom. These two have probably been the most talked about tokens in the Beluga Brief over the last few weeks, so it’s great to see both shooting up over 10% in the last 24 hours. FTM is mainly moving due to a thought piece from CTO Andre Cronje detailing how he plans to target a $11.3T industry using the new Sonic launch, which is expected in the next few months.

Outside of the “real token” world we saw memecoins also have a strong bounce today with WIF leading the charge at +12%, which could indicate there is still some life in the memecoin market. Volume in the smaller cap memecoins remains pretty low and the energy is still strongly “PvP” with traders rapidly dumping on each other, which is a trend that needs to reverse if we want the “Memecoin Supercycle” that the influencers have been calling for. I stand by my theory that the market is bored of tokens with no value, and there will be a strong move towards revenue-generating real-yield applications… could the Aave pump be the start of this?
