🐳 Weekly Edition: Binance's BNB Hits New ATH as Bitcoin Looks to Break $124k

Crypto surges into the weekend despite the Government shutdown, as weakness in the dollar pushes investors to look outside traditional avenues

Bitcoin came within throwing distance of making a new all-time high today, reaching a local peak of $124k while ETH climbed to almost $4,600. For perspective, about 2 weeks ago the crypto market experienced its largest liquidation event of the year, with the vast majority of that consisting of long positions. Once again, traders who were right about the eventual move ended up getting liquidated before it could play out. One coin that did manage to make a new high today is BNB, the native token of Binance’s blockchain. A series of memecoin successes on the chain in addition to the meteoric rise of Aster have brought trader attention back to what used to be known as the main memecoin chain, pushing its price over $1,100 for the first time ever.

While I’d still view BNB as a wildly different network than Coinbase’s Base, the parallels between the two can’t be ignored. Recent price action on BNB bodes quite well for the valuation of the future BASE token, and while Coinbase maintains we are still a way out from their TGE, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it come sooner than expected. If the BASE airdrop is something you’d like to be a part of (as I think we all do), check out our new article for info on where to start. With several high-profile airdrops slated to come over the next few months (Monad, Base, Lighter, Polymarket, Pump.Fun, and more), there will be a lot of liquidity flowing around onchain — not to mention President Trump’s proposed ā€œ$1-2,000ā€ stimulus check planned for this fall… things could get crazy in Q4.

Well we’ve officially made our first trade in a few months, cutting losses on Sonic and its ecosystem token BEETS to rotate more into Plume. My views on Sonic from a user experience perspective haven’t changed, in fact as I was swapping out of the token I couldn’t help but notice how smooth the transactions were. Rather, I understand crypto is largely an attention economy, and if even a billion dollar raise for Sonic CTO Andre Cronje’s new company Flying Tulip couldn’t bring attention to Sonic, I’m not sure where it comes from. Plume on the other hand is positioned right in the middle of the RWA narrative, which I think inevitably sees some major inflows in the near future. If Plume can continue down this track of both regulatory alignment and top-tier yield opportunities, they’ll do well.
